Gamma pt. 50
The liquid coursed through Eva’s veins as she looked down and casually flexed her already large bicep. The vascularity in her forearms resembled a road map as Eva awaited some kind of result. Her wait was not a long one. A warm sensation began at the point of injection and spread throughout her body. The doctors and nurses took notes and kept monitoring her vitals. Small beads of sweat began to form on her brow as her body temperature elevated. “This is definitely diff…” Her words were cut off as a sharp pain shot from her chest to every muscle in her body.
It began with her biceps and Pecs each growing larger with each instinctive flex. Her body was spastic all over. Each second brought a new size to Eva’s body and with it, another level of pain. “Yes…I want more…” She cried out, willing to deal with the agonizing contractions of each muscle as they spread all over her body. Her thighs became as thick as tree trunks while her shoulders spread to the size of bowling balls. The pain became almost unbearable, as Eva’s bones were actually breaking and extending to make room for more muscle. Her fist held a titanium grip as her heart kept beating faster…faster…faster. Smoke emanated from the EKG machine as it couldn’t keep up with the pumps Eva’s heart was putting out as the bed collapsed from the new weight that was put on top of it. Eva’s breathing was fast and intense. A look of terror flowed from her entire body. She reached for the hand of one of the doctors to help her. Before the doctor could react in any way, Eva’s heart exploded. Her head fell to the floor busting the pure concrete as if it were an eggshell. Dai Morioka sat in his chair and picked up his cell phone and called a number from his address book. The phone picked up with no reply. “It’s done” was all he said before hanging up the phone.
Back in Salisbury, MD, Jess stood on the green energy blanket as tears streamed down her face. Her rage focused on Grace and Grace alone. Jess saw an image of Grace’s face and began focusing on it. As if there were nothing else in the world at that moment. The face grew larger as if it were actually coming closer to Jess until finally it disappeared and all Jess saw was Frank being held in the air by an unseen force, grasping at his throat to prevent what appeared to be nothing.
Grace: Well well well. What have we here. I thought it was odd that I could never read your thoughts.
Jess: Lift this barrier you stupid cunt!
Grace: Such language young lady. It’s a good thing I’m not your mother.
Jess: Well I see how well you’ve raised Sharise and no thanks.
Grace: Such disrespect…I can see the death of your lover has done nothing to teach you respect.
Unknown to Jess, as she carried on a conversation with Grace, her body began to grow in all directions. Her already thick arms grew in length and mass. Her black winter coat and pants filled to capacity in an instant. Her legs grew longer and thicker with muscle as did her chest and back. The cold air did nothing to shock Jess out of her intense conversation, even as her clothes fell to the ground. Ten feet high…twenty feet high…Jess and Grace had not stopped in their verbal battle.
Jess: Respect is earned lady. And you haven’t earned shit!
Grace: You know nothing about me.
Jess: I know you’re a bully. You get violent when something you can’t control happens.
Thirty feet…forty feet…
Grace: You should be focused on the people you work for. They’re aren’t as great as you think.
Jess: Brie?
Grace: No you imbecile…Frank and his team of flunkies. They are responsible for all of this.
Jess: You are responsible for Dean…and I swear to God you will pay.
Fifty feet…Sixty feet…
Grace: Such big talk for a small mind.
Seventy feet…
Jess picks up her titanic foot and slams it onto the blanket, shattering it to pieces and sending Grace Harmon flying backwards into her house, freeing Frank from her invisible grip. As Jess she falls into the icy water. Regaining her senses, she fishes out Dean with one hand and walks toward the shore. Just as she lays Dean on the ground, a medical team comes up with a gurney and various medical supplies. They rush over and immediately get to work on Dean, performing CPR while trying to bring up her body temperature. One of the medics speaks directly to Jess. “They need you at the house!” Jess replied with a booming voice, “I’m not going to leave Dean until I know she’s going to be okay!”
Medic: If you don’t leave now, we may have a lot more bodies on our hands.
Jess: She’s the only one that matters to me.
Medic: Then what would she want you to do?
Jess looked at the man straight on and then to Dean as she was being worked on. She stood up and began to walk back to the house. She looked back down to the medic. “If she dies, I’m holding you responsible.” The medic tipped his hat and replied back, “So will I ma’am.”
As Jess was out of sight, the team worked feverishly on Dean. Unseen to them, Mistress Taylor appeared in a green mist just behind a tree and looked on. “If she dies, the divinatrix will venture down a path that could destroy us all” She thought to herself. She waved her finger a bit and Dean coughed up all the water in her lungs. She stared at the medics with eyes have opened. “Thanks boys. Where’s Jess?” A medic pointed in her direction and the top of her head and back could still be seen over the trees. “Fuck” was all Dean could muster before getting up and heading back to the house as fast as she could.
Back at the house Sharise had rushed to her mother’s side as she had been flung hard into a nearby wall, slamming into it. “Mom! Mom…speak to me!” Grace regained her consciousness and looked into her daughter’s eyes. “I’m sorry it had to come to this, honey”
Sharise: It’s okay mom. There’s a lot we have to talk about.
Grace: More than you know.
Sharise: What do you mean mom.
Before Grace can answer, a thundering sound came blasting toward the house. The ground shook as a 70 foot tall Jess emerged from the woods, her body packed with muscle. “Grace!” Her voice boomed and echoed into the cold night air. “We have unfinished business”
Grace stood up and began walking toward her front door. Both her and Sharise jumped back in horror as the entire top of the house was ripped from the bottom. Jess looked down at Grace and Sharise and reached down and picked up Grace in the palm of her hand and brought her up to her face. “What you did to my Girlfriend wasn’t very nice.” Jess stood up to her full height as Sharise, Frank and the remaining NSA agents stared on in amazement. “I’m going to have to teach you a lesson.” Jess said just before she began to feel woozy and began to stumble a bit. Her massive feet causing small tremors in the surrounding areas. “Put my mother down!” Sharise cried out to Jess.
Jess instinctively dropped Grace who began floating down to the ground. Her eyes stopped glowing as she landed and ran over to Sharise.
Grace: That’s right, honey…suck every last ounce of energy from her.
Sharise did not respond as she was concentrating on siphoning a great deal more gamma than she was used to. Jess staggered back and forth as she shrank almost as quickly as she grew. As her size diminished, Jess looked at Sharise and gained as much content and hatred for her as she did for her mother. Jess fell to her knees, her thirty foot height allowed her better eye contact with Sharise. “You want this power so fucking much…” she said while trying get to her feet. “You can have it!” Jess concentrated as hard as she could, focusing all of her energy into Sharise. Sharise was unprepared as the onslaught of gamma energy hit her like a tidal wave, knocking her down and slamming her into the side of what was left of the house. Jess found herself at normal size and had full use of her body. She looked at Grace who had a look of terror on her face and began to charge her with the full force of her body. Sharise stood up as fast as she could and fired a blast of pure gamma energy into Jess, who crossed her arms and made fists with her hands to take the brunt of the blast and is pushed back several yards and then stops. Jess body begins to inflate with muscle again as she absorbs the energy that she force fed to Sharise mere seconds earlier.
As the muscle mass grew on Jess, it became easier and easier for her to withstand the force of the blast. Step after step brought her ever close to reaching her vengeance. Jess was so focused on Sharise that she didn’t notice Grace standing on what was left of the front porch placed just above Sharise in line of sight of Jess, with her fingertips on her temples, her eyes glowing a bright green. A small green ball of pure energy slowly began forming as Jess edged ever closer to Sharise. Her body was massive, and getting bigger by the second. Her biceps unflexed were the size of cantaloupes with calves to match, her thighs as thick as tree trunks. Jess reached out her hand and could nearly touch Sharise’ when Grace released the ball of energy and it hit Jess directly between the eyes. In combination with the force of the pure gamma energy that Sharise was blasting into Jess knocked her back a good 40 feet.
Dean: Nooooooooooooooooooooo!
Dean rushed to her lover Jess who was already beginning to shrink back down to her normal self. As Dean reached Jess she dropped to her knees and covered her with the blanket the EMS team had given her to warm up. She began to rub Jess’ forehead as tears streamed down her face. She took her vitals and listened to her heart. It was small but it was there. A medic rushed over to Jess and Dean and began working on her. Dean helped in anyway she could with her medical knowledge. Frank regained his faculties and began to address Grace.
Frank: This has gone on long enough Grace. Just surrender now and no one else has to get hurt.
Grace: No one else on your pathetic team you mean. Sharise and I are leaving. And trust me. You won’t find us again.
Frank: Now.
A barrage of bullets were fired from all directions aimed at Grace Harmon. A protective green bubble immediately surrounded her and Sharise. As soon as they hit the bubble they stopped in midair. Grace made a circular motion with her fist and the bullets all turned the other direction all pointed at Frank. Grace opened her palms signaling the bullets to fire back. That stopped an inch from his body.
Grace: That was a stupid move Frank.
Frank: Why do you think I’m still in the field and not making the big decisions.
Grace: Call off your men now. Or they will all die.
Frank: You know I can’t do that, Grace.
Grace sent a mental command to each of the bullets but before they could be sent out, Grace Harmon collapsed on the porch next to her daughter, the protective bubble dissipating as she hit the floor. “Mom?” As the bullets fell, Frank ran up to his daughter and hugged her in a tight embrace. She returned the hug as she saw her grandmother emerging from the woods. She reached the front porch of the destroyed house and began speaking to Sharise and Frank.
Mistress Taylor: I guess this makes us even, eh Frank?
Frank: Not by a long shot.
Mistress Taylor: And you. It looks as if you have failed your test.
Sharise: I’m sorry Grandma. I didn’t know what to do. You said my mother needed me.
Mistress Taylor: She did. And still does. But that will be taken care of now. I thought you were done with your training. But it appears that there was some things that I didn‘t cover. I shall take you under my wing fully.
Frank: I don’t think that’s wise.
Mistress Taylor: As opposed to all of this. I will take Sharise to my place up in Boston. You will have full access to her, Frank. That way all of this can be avoided.
Frank: Thank you.
Frank and Sharise said their goodbyes knowing they could catch up after the business at hand was taken care of. Sharise and Mistress Taylor disappeared in a green mist.
Jess’ eyes parted and she saw a sight that was always welcome. Dean standing over her with an immense smile on her face. Dean looked a bit different as she had cut her shoulder length hair extremely short and slicked back.
Dean: Thank God. You’re awake. I thought you were gone for good.
Jess: You cut your hair?
Dean: Yeah, do you like it?
Jess: Looks great on you. But then again so does everything.
Dean: Oh my God I’m so happy you woke up. I love you so much.
Jess: I love you, too. The last thing I remember was charging toward Sharise and Grace hitting me with…something.
Dean: You don’t have to worry about Grace anymore. She’s taken care of.
Jess: How?
Dean: Well apparently that Mistress Taylor chick showed up and shut down Grace’s mind powers. They explained it to me but I didn’t really get it.
Jess: Mistress Taylor helped us out? I thought she was just a mean old bitch.
Dean: Who knew? Listen Jess…You’ve been out…for a while.
Jess: How long. Did I miss opening all the presents.
Dean: Yeah. Sort of.
Dean handed Jess a small box with a red ribbon tied around it.
Jess: I can’t wait to open it. After this though, I’m going to have to get my eggnog on. I promise I won’t drink too much. Though with my metabolism I don’t think I can even get drunk anymore…
Jess paused as she opened the box to find a heart shaped necklace with a ruby in the center of it. “Aww…baby…this is awesome.” Jess turned it over to read the inscription which said, “Happy Valentine’s day Love Dean”
Jess: Baby…Don’t you think you’re a little early for…
Dean pointed to the calendar on the hospital bed which read February 14. “Like I said…You’ve been out for awhile.
