Her eyes opened slowly. The light was nearly blindingly painful, forcing her to close them tightly for a moment. Finally, she forced herself to open them again, but it took several minutes before she could handle the light enough to understand her surroundings. The room she was in was white, very white, and nothing else: no window, no pictures, no door. She couldn’t even make out the corners in the wall or floor. She could tell the floor was flat, but beyond that, it was as if she was in a complete void.
